Addis Ababa, December 20, 2010 (Addis Ababa) - Earth Quake hits Hossanna Town and its environs on Sunday, the Addis Ababa University said.

The earth earthquake measuring 5.3 at Richter scale hit the town and its environs at 3.15 PM local time, the Geophysics, Space Science and Astronomy Service told ENA late Sunday.

 The tremor was felt with in the radius of 30 kms of Hossanna Town, Earthquake Expert, Dr. Atalay Ayele said.

 The earquake that lasted 19 seconds has brought no causality so far except cracks on some buildings existing in the town, the Hossanna Town Police Inspector, Erdedo Awono said.

 Some old earthen houses were also demolished as a result of the earthquake.
