Person of Ethiopian origin Identity card

  • Issue of ID for person of Ethiopian origin
    • Fully completed and signed application form CS02
    • 4 photographs  (see type of photos )
    • Old  Ethiopian passport or birth certificate or education certificate or other similar certificates originated from Ethiopian government and attested by Ministry of foreign affairs of Ethiopia except for the passport  (copy and original)
    • Current valid passport (original and copy)
    • To have fingerprint captured in front of embassy staff
    • Appropriate fee (see service fees )
    • ID is valid for five years from the date of issue
    • On the current passport details of the ID is stamped
    • Passport should always be presented with the ID to enter/exit Ethiopia

 

  • Issue of ID for spouse
    • Fully completed and signed application form CS03
    • Person of Ethiopian origin ID of the spouse
    • 4 photographs  (see type of photos)
    • Current valid passport (original and copy)
    • Marriage certificate (copy and original)
    • Affidavit by the couple stating they are currently married (see form CS15)
    • To have fingerprint captured in front of embassy staff
    • Appropriate fee (see service fees)
    • ID is valid for five years from the date of issue
    • On the current passport details of the ID is stamped
    • Passport should always be presented with the ID to enter/exit Ethiopia

 

  • Issue of ID for children
    • Children’s of holder of person of Ethiopian origin can have their own ID
    • Fully completed and signed application form CS02
    • Request statement by Ethiopian origin parent
    • Person of Ethiopian origin ID of the Ethiopian origin parent
    • 4 photographs  (see type of photos)
    • Birth certificate 9copy and original)
    • Current valid passport (original and copy)
    • To have fingerprint captured in front of embassy staff  for 14 years and above
    • Appropriate fee (see service fees)
    • ID is valid for five years from the date of issue
    • On the current passport details of the ID is stamped
    • Passport should always be presented with the ID to enter/exit Ethiopia
  • Issue of ID for couples
    • Each person has to full fill the following requirements
    • Fully completed and signed application form CS02
    • 4 photographs (see type of photos)
    • Old  Ethiopian passport or birth certificate or education certificate or other similar certificates originated from Ethiopian government and attested by Ministry of foreign affairs of Ethiopia except for the passport  (copy and original)
    • Current valid passport (original and copy)
    • Appropriate fee (see service fees)
    • ID is valid for five years from the date of issue
    • On the current passport details of the ID is stamped
    • Passport should always be presented with the ID to enter/exit Ethiopia
  • Replacement of expired/lost or damaged ID
    • Fully completed and signed application form CS02
    • 4 photographs (see type of photos)
    • Person of Ethiopian origin ID (original or/and copy as appropriate)
    • Current valid passport (original and copy)
    • Affidavit giving detailed explanation of the circumstances under which the ID was damaged/lost
    • Report lodged with the nearest Police Station for lost ID
    • Marriage certificate and affidavit by the couple stating they are currently married, if ID is obtained by marriage (see forms CS15)
    • To have fingerprint captured in front of embassy staff
    • Appropriate fee (see service fees)
    • ID is valid for five years from the date of issue
    • On the current passport details of the ID is stamped
    • Passport should always be presented with the ID to enter/exit Ethiopia

 

  • To enter children’s data on ID
    • Fully completed and signed application form CS02
    • Request statement by Ethiopian origin parent form CS07
    • Person of Ethiopian origin ID of the Ethiopian origin parent
    • 3 photographs  (see type of photos )
    • Birth certificate (original and copy)
    • Current valid passport (original and copy)
    • To have fingerprint captured in front of embassy staff  for 14 years and above
    • No fee for this service
    • Children’s data is not entered on the ID any more
    • On the current passport of the child details of the ID of his parent is entred
    • Passport should always be presented with the ID to enter/exit Ethiopia

 

  • Renewal of ID
    • ID is not renewed any more
    • If ID expires it should be replaced (see Replacement of expired/lost or damaged ID for person of Ethiopian origin )
    • The fee for newel applies in this case (refer service fees)

 

  • Amendment on ID
    • This service is not available any more
    • If amendment is required ID should be replaced (see Replacement of expired/lost or damaged ID for person of Ethiopian origin)
